Charlotte’s Web Oil

Charlotte’s Web Oil has reached new levels of fame since the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, when hemp and all of its derivatives were finally removed from the Schedule I controlled substances list. A quick Google search for Charlotte’s Web proves just how famous this hemp strain has become. The oil’s listing even appears before the classic children’s book, of the same name, by E.B.White. Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil is most famous for dramatically changing the quality of life for one little girl, called Charlotte. For those of you that don’t already know the story behind Charlotte Figi and the remarkable plight of the Stanley Brothers, this blog is for you, as well as for all those interested in learning more about Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil uses, dosages, and side-effects.

A Short History of Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte Figi was born in 2006 with a very rare and severe form of epilepsy called Dravet’s Syndrome. Dravet’s is characterized by intense and complex seizures, as well as cognitive and motor function impairment. Charlotte had her first seizure at just a few months old and by 2011, at the age of five, her parents reluctantly signed a “do not resuscitate” order as Charlotte suffered up to 300 seizures per week, some lasting for up to four hours.

Meanwhile, through the process of crossbreeding a variety of different strains, the Stanley Brothers had produced a strain of cannabis that was high in CBD and so low in THC that it was unable to induce intoxication of any kind. The lack of THC led many critics to believe that there would be no market for this strain and it was nicknamed the “Hippie’s Disappointment”, a direct reflection of its complete inability to cause the famous “high”. This very special, highly innovative strain was eventually renamed Charlotte’s Web and went from being a hippie’s disappointment to two parents’ savior.

Charlotte’s Web Successes

Taking daily doses of Charlotte’s Web Oil reduced Charlotte’s seizure frequency to just two or three per month and she was able to ride a bike and talk after having taken it for a month. As it turned out, it wasn’t just Charlotte that needed help and news of the success of Charlotte’s Web Oil spread like wildfire, leading other parents to flock to Colorado in search of the miracle cannabis oil that might also be able to help their children. Since 2014, the Stanley Brothers have taken special measures to ensure that Charlotte’s Web always contains less than 0.3% THC.

Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil continues to help people around the world. So much so, that it has inspired even large pharmaceutical companies to become involved. The first pure CBD prescription drug called Epidiolex won FDA approval in June 2017 for the treatment of severe epileptic disorders like Charlotte’s.

Uses, Side-Effects, and Dosage

While Charlotte’s Web originally gained fame from treating epilepsy, the high CBD strain has proven useful in the treatment of other ailments too. People use Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil to help relieve symptoms of chronic pain and anxiety, enhance quality of sleep, and improve mood and general feelings of wellbeing. Some parents are even looking into Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil for ADHD and autism. There seems to be a growing amount of anecdotal evidence to suggest that CBD can help these conditions, although scientific evidence to substantiate these claims is lacking. If there’s a chance that CBD can help, then it certainly presents a preferably alternative to stimulant medications that are currently prescribed for children diagnosed with ADHD. Charlotte’s Web hemp oil side effects are so few and far between that an article from The Royal Society of Chemistry rated the side-effect profile of CBD to be comparable to that of a placebo.

As with any CBD oil, the best advice when it comes to Charlotte’s Web hemp oil dosage is to start low and go slow. What works for one person isn’t necessarily going to work for another, so it’s best to begin by using a really low dose and then work your way up, monitoring the effects you feel each time you increment. If you’re thinking of taking Charlotte’s Web hemp extract in MCT oil as a base, then you can read our post about CBD microdosing to help you find your ideal dose.

CBD for Dogs

If you’re considering using Charlotte’s Web Hemp Oil for dogs, then be sure to buy the CW products that are made specifically for dogs. CBD can prove to be just as beneficial for your pets as it can be for you, but it’s important to understand that animals have different numbers of cannabinoid receptors in their brains compared to humans. Dogs, for example, have more receptors. As such, CBD products and doses affect them differently.

A Heartwarming History and a Very Bright Future

With such a heartwarming history, it’s easy to see why this high CBD strain continues to generate such interest. We wonder if there’ll ever be such an innovative strain breakthrough as this one in the future. We certainly hope so.
